Sweet Chilli Sauce

Feeling Saucy?!

All you need is 5 minutes & 5 ingredients for my simple, but not in flavour Sweet Chilli Sauce recipe.

Once you’ve tried homemade you’ll never buy the bottled stuff again! 



Prep Time: 2 mins
Cook Time: 3 mins
Difficulty: Easy
Serves/makes: 3/4 cup


INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 Tbs fresh red chilli, finely chopped
  • 1 x clove garlic, finely chopped/crushed 
  • 1/2 - 1 Tbs corn/potato starch/flour + 1-2 Tbs water, mixed together to make a slurry


STEPS:


  1. In a small saucepan, add water, rice vinegar, sugar, chilli and bring to a gentle boil, 2 mins. Stirring occasionally. 
  2. Turn down heat to low and quickly stir in the starch slurry until the sauce thickens and turns clear. 
  3. Remove from stove and allow to cool before serving. Store in a glass jar and keep in the fridge.
  4. Enjoy! 



LisaDiepCooks Notes:

  • Slurry: start off with 1/2 Tbs initially and gradually add more if you prefer the sauce to be thicker. If it ends up being too thick you can thin it out with a touch of water. 
  • Shelf life: pop into a sealed glass container and store in the fridge for 1 week.
  • Take it to the next level: Stir in 1 tsp of Sriracha to give it an extra kick and pop of red colour.
